DNR director says he's moving on

Steve Mahfood, director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, has announced his resignation, which will be effective Friday.

Mahfood has been at the department for the past 20 years and has been director for seven.

He said he plans to continue to work to protect the country's natural resources.

"I'm very proud of the work our department has accomplished," Mahfood said. "I've been very blessed to lead one of the most courageous and caring groups of people I've ever known and to be a part of their efforts. However, the time has come to say good-bye."
