The Cape Girardeau School Board voted in closed session Wednesday night to hire one of three finalists in their superintendent search, but hasn't announced its choice yet. Board vice president Sharon Mueller said the board will release the information by Monday, after the board has had time to contact the individual selected for the position. Earlier this month, the board narrowed its search to three finalists: Dr. Betty Chong, currently employed as assistant superintendent of special services and elementary education in Cape Girardeau; Dr. Rudy Duran, superintendent in the Steelville School District; and Dr. David Scala, assistant superintendent in the Sioux Falls School District in Sioux Falls, S.D.
