DEXTER -- A Dexter man died Thursday morning after falling into a manhole he was working on at a landfill just north of the city.

Stoddard County Sheriff Steve Fish said Christopher L. Sederes, 22, was found at the bottom of the manhole at about 9:30 a.m. by other workers at the Lemons Landfill.

"No one saw him fall into the manhole, so we don't know what happened," Fish said. An autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of death, but Fish said there was no indication of foul play.

Fish said the manhole pipe was about 12 feet deep at the site of the accident.
