The state has awarded a $150,000 grant to Southeast Regional Professional Development Center, operated by Southeast Missouri State University.
It will use the funds for professional development of elementary and secondary schoolteachers and administrators.
"This system is good because the university educated many of these teachers and administrators in the first place," said Dr. Shirley Stennis-Williams, dean of the College of Education. "We get to continue our commitment to them and to know what the needs of the current teachers are," she said.
The center is one of nine in the state.
