Voters in Delta may be more surprised at what's not on the ballot for Tuesday's general election: candidates.

No candidates have filed for the mayor's post, currently held by Paul Evans, or for alderman in the city's second ward.

Incumbent City Collector Dorothy Kelley, who was appointed to office about a year and a half ago, is seeking her first elected term.

And Carl Amos is seeking his first elected office as the sole candidate on the ballot for alderman in Ward 1.

Amos, 56, is a construction worker.

Amos said he isn't happy about the lack of interest in the election, but he's not surprised, either. "I think Delta kind of went down hill, but maybe in a couple of years we can bring it back up," he said.
