Delta man pleads guilty to reduced charge

A Delta 18-year-old who was charged with molesting a 14-year-old girl was sentenced Friday to two years of supervised probation by a Cape Girardeau County judge.

Davey R. Mayfield, originally charged with felony child molestation, pleaded guilty Friday to a reduced charged of child endangerment, a misdemeanor.

In court documents filed in the case, police allege Mayfield had sex with the underage girl in March. On March 31, a juvenile was also arrested in connection to the crime. He was referred to juvenile authorities in Cape Girardeau County.
