A second place ranking at a state DECA competition earned Cape Girardeau Central High School student Mike Enke a trip to the National Career Development Conference in Orlando, Fla.

DECA, Distributive Education Clubs of America, is organized through Cape Girardeau's Area Vocational-Technical School for students in marketing education classes.

Enke first won at a district level, then placed at the state competition to earn the trip to the national event.

He competed in a category called general merchandise which relates to retail marketing.

Students complete 100 multiple choice questions and then role play two work-related situations.

Enke is the son of Kenneth and Janet Enke of Cape Girardeau.
