ST. LOUIS -- The death of an 87-year-old St. Louis woman is being blamed on the heat.
The woman's body was found Monday afternoon in her backyard. Her name was not released.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported the woman's body temperature was 108 degrees. She was the sixth person to die as a result of the heat this summer in St. Louis city.
Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services spokesman Brian Quinn said 18 deaths statewide have been confirmed as heat-related, and three others are unconfirmed. The state also cited 1,022 confirmed heat-related illnesses.
