SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City Chamber of Commerce has extended to Friday its deadline for entries for the Little Mr. and Miss Railroad Day contest.
Because there were only a small number of entries in the contest, the minimum age qualifications have been extended to children who area at least 4 by Sept. 12. Contestants are asked to have their entries in by noon on Friday at the Scott City Hall.
The contest is part of the annual Scott City Mid-Summer Festival, held at the Scott City Community Park. It begins Friday evening and continues Saturday.
Contestants can wear bib overalls, jeans or any items of clothing that represent a railroad theme. Contestants should be at the community park by 6:15 p.m. Friday for pictures. The competition will begin at 7 p.m.
There will be a parade Saturday at 11 a.m., and all contestants will be asked to participate in the parade.
Next year, the contest will again be the Little Mr. and Miss Mid-Summer Fest.
