ST. LOUIS Illusionist David Copperfield will perform four shows at the Fox Theater Feb. 23 and 24.
Show times are Feb. 23 at 5:30 and 9 p.m. and Feb. 24 at 4 and 7:30 p.m.
"The Magic of David Copperfield" is sponsored by the Boatmen's Super Set Series.
Copperfield has been called the "greatest magician of our time" by fans and critics alike. In 1982, he made seven-ton jet vanish while surrounded by a ring of unbelieving spectators and a television audience of millions.
Television specials have featured Copperfield making the Statue of Liberty disappear, walking through the Great Wall of China, levitating himself over the Grand Canyon, escaping from Alcatraz Prison and disappearing from a floating barge in the heart of the Bermuda Triangle.
In his 1989 television special, Copperfield escaped from an abandoned hotel which was set to be demolished by hundreds of pounds of explosives. He was given only 180 seconds to escape from a locked safe inside the structure, and his wrists were bound in handcuffs.
In his 1990 television special, "The Magic of David Copperfield XII: The Niagara Falls Challenge," he was bound and chained to a burning raft and had less than 60 seconds to escape before the raft plummeted over the edge of Niagara Falls.
Copperfield has broken records at Caesar's Palace, the Las Vegas Hilton and the MGM Grand and has made four command performances at the White House.
