ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The daughter of St. Louis' police chief has been charged with three felonies after being arrested earlier this week.
Aimie Mokwa, 32, of Wright City, was charged Monday in Warren County with stealing a credit card, possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported in its Thursday editions.
Wednesday, Police Chief Joe Mokwa acknowledged that his daughter was "troubled."
"I'm disappointed and saddened," he said.
Officials said Aimie Mokwa was arrested with a man police described as a boyfriend during an investigation into thefts from family members.
Chief Mokwa said the investigation began with an alleged theft from his ex-wife's home. Warren County Sheriff's Department spokesman Kevin Harrison said a credit card had been stolen.
Harrison said Aimie Mokwa's 9-year-old daughter was with her when she was arrested.
Aimie Mokwa was being held Wednesday in the Warren County jail on a cash-only $15,000 bond, the Post-Dispatch reported.
Court documents indicate she also was charged with domestic assault and resisting or interfering with an arrest, both misdemeanors. It wasn't immediately clear if those charges were in connection with the other charges.
