The first 2001 meeting of the Cape Girardeau City Council is postponed until Jan. 8 because of a conflict with New Year's Day.
Additionally, the council changed the date of its second January meeting to the 22nd because of a conflict with Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Generally, the council members meets the first and third Mondays of each month. Because the first Monday of January 2001 is New Year's Day and the third Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the council voted to change its meetings to Jan. 8 and Jan. 22.
The council meets at 7 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers at 401 Independence St. Meetings are preceded by a 5 p.m. study session.
