Michael Davis would have celebrated his 27th birthday Thursday, but the St. Louis native was killed a little over a year ago after a fraternity hazing ritual at Southeast Missouri State University.
The circumstance around his Feb. 15, 1994, death and the fraternity blamed for the tragedy, Kappa Alpha Psi, will be featured tonight on "Dateline NBC."
Edith Davis, Michael's mother, went to where her son was buried in St. Peter's Cemetery in St. Louis Thursday with friends and family.
She was interviewed for the program with some of her other children.
Seven people were convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Carlos Turner and Laimmoire Taylor reportedly were interviewed for the show.
Other people involved with the fraternity and the subsequent investigation after Davis' death also were interviewed, including university officials and Cape Girardeau County Prosecutor Morley Swingle.
"They interviewed me for about an hour and a half," Swingle said. "I don't know everyone interviewed or what they're going to use for the segment."
An associate producer for "Dateline NBC" didn't return a call Thursday.
The program airs tonight at 8 on WPSD-TV, Channel 6.
