Southeast Missouri State University officials have rescheduled a groundbreaking ceremony for a new parking garage and transit center for Oct. 30 so that U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson can attend.
The ceremony had been set for Friday, but was rescheduled after school officials learned Emerson couldn't make that date. Emerson, who helped secure funding for the project, is scheduled to speak at the noon ceremony on Oct. 30, which will be held at the project site on New Madrid Street.
The university plans to build a $12.5 million park-and-ride structure in phases over the next five years, school officials said. The structure will tie into the campus transit system.
