Dana Corporation's Spicer Axle Division at Cape Girardeau has taken on a new name.

"The Dana Corporation name and diamond logo will remain," said Dave Blanchard, manager of the plant at 20-75 Corporate Circle. But in place of the current Spicer Axle Division will be Spicer Light Vehicle Axle Division.

Dana announced that the former Spicer Axle Division has been realigned into two new marked-focused units: Spicer Light Truck Axle Division and Spicer Light Vehicle Axle Division.

"We're in the latter division," said Blanchard, who was in Fort Wayne, Ind., last week when the changes were announced to axle division personnel.

The changes are designed to provide more focus, agility and speed in meeting the needs of Dana's light-vehicle customers, said Blanchard. "All of the details have not been worked out yet, but they will be very soon," he said.

The two new divisions are part of Dana's Automotive Systems Group, which provides axles, driveshafts, structural products, automotive brakes and clutch actuation products, and modules and systems for the global vehicular marketplace.

"Our focus at the Cape Girardeau facility will be primarily on the engineering and manufacture of passenger car and sport utility vehicle axle components and systems," said Blanchard.

Other plants joining the Cape Girardeau facility in the light vehicle division are at Columbia; Dry Ridge, Ky.; and Fort Wayne. The light truck group includes manufacturing plants in Buena Vista, Va.,; Greensboro, N.C.; Jonesboro, Ark.; and Syracuse, Ind.
