Dad laid off from job -- no toys for children

Many of the Toybox families are asking for help due to recent layoffs at area businesses. For this family, Mom's paycheck is supporting a family of seven. There is no extra money after bills are paid for toys this Christmas. The family has never needed help before and appreciates that the community is here for their children. The oldest daughter loves to read, and would love some books at the third- or fourth-grade reading level. She also likes items related to Fur Real pets, Hannah Montana, High School Musical, or Littlest Pet Shops. The boys love Star Wars, Power Rangers, cars, dinosaurs, Spider-Man and read-aloud books for boys. The little ones like musical and educational toys. One child works with a speech therapist and needs a Noodle Pro. Mom says they spend a lot of time reading, and maybe once a month celebrate a family night with pizza and a movie at home. Bring new toys to any of the Toybox locations, including the Southeast Missourian, or make a monetary donation to Toybox, P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, MO 63702.
