Crowell speech, Microsoft truck among highlights of First Friday Coffee

A speech by state Sen. Jason Crowell, R-Cape Girardeau, and an appearance by the Microsoft Across America Truck are among the highlights of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce's First Friday Coffee.

The monthly event usually is held the first Friday of each month, but because its normal meeting day fell on the July 4 holiday, organizers pushed back the event a week. It will take place Friday at the Show Me Center.

Crowell will update business leaders and the community on the accomplishments of the 2008 legislative session as well as Missouri's progress over the past four years. His speech will begin at 7:15 a.m.

From 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., the community will have an opportunity to visit the Microsoft truck, which will be parked outside the Show Me Center. Microsoft along with Technology and Networking employees will be on hand to explain new available technologies. Technology and Networking -- a provider of computer network design, implementation and maintenance services in Cape Girardeau -- is bringing the truck to the event because of its Gold status with Microsoft.

Technology-related prizes will be given away following the conclusion of the First Friday Coffee program. Winners must be present to collect their prizes.
