Crosswalks in downtown Cape Girardeau will be replaced beginning Friday.
Crosswalks made of pavers on Main, Spanish and Themis streets will be replaced by red, scored colored concrete to match recent upgrades along the Broadway corridor, the city said Wednesday in a news release. Weather permitting, the road work, contracted to Fronabarger Concreters Inc. of Oak Ridge, will take about six weeks to complete.
Main Street intersections will remain open to at least one traffic lane. Intersections on Spanish and Themis streets will close to traffic during the project, according to the release.
Signs will direct traffic around the construction area, and motorists are asked to use caution.
