Maggie Schuch, nurse manager of the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Southeast Missouri Hospital, has received the 1994 Critical Care Nurse of the Year award presented by the Southeast Missouri Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
Schuch, an employee of the hospital since 1988, has a BSN degree from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Prior to joining Southeast, she was a charge nurse in the intensive-care unit at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Granite City, Ill. She also worked in the cardiovascular intensive-care unit at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
She is a member of the National and Southeast Missouri Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, American Nurses Association and Missouri Nurses Association .
Schuch is the fifth Southeast Missouri Hospital nurse to receive the award. Previous winners were David Voss, a nurse in the intensive-care unit-coronary care unit (ICU-CCU); Pat Isaacs, assistant nurse manager of ICU-CCU; Cathy McClard, nurse manager of ICU-CCU; and Donna Shirrell, education services.
