Dr. Michael Fichter, Southeast Missouri State University professor of criminal justice, will lead trips to Sweden, Bulgaria and Turkey this summer.
He will lead an 18-day trip to Sweden May 20 to June 7. The trip will include lectures at the University of Orebro on social work, law, courts, corrections and other social-service agencies.
Visits have been arranged to service agencies, courts, and police and correctional agencies. Trips to cultural sites in Stockholm, Orebro and Vasteras also have been planned. Weekends will be free for travel throughout Sweden.
Cost is $2,400, which includes airfare, housing and some transportation and meals.
Fichter also is leading an 18-day trip to Bulgaria and Turkey, tentatively scheduled for July 8-26, depending on airline reservations. The trip will include travel to Sofia, Plovdiv, the Black Sea, Istanbul and other sites. Cost is $2,300, which includes airfare, housing, meals and transportation expenses within the country.
