BROSELEY, Mo. -- With help of a search warrant and a canine officer, police seized more than $250,000 in cash and suspected methamphetamine hidden in a Broseley residence early Friday.

The contraband was located in a safe inside a closet at Clifford Stackhouse's residence on County Road 656, south of Broseley, police said

"The dog alerted on the safe and when it was opened, that is when they discovered the meth, as well as the cash," Butler County Lt. Rick Sliger said.

Officers found about three to four pounds of suspected meth and "just shy of $40,000 in actual cash," Sliger said.

Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Graves said numerous pistols, assault rifles and shotguns were also seized from the residence.

Officers arrived at the house at about 3 a.m., Sliger said.

There were about six people in the residence when officers arrived, and all but one were asleep, Sliger said.

Sgt. Rick Dobbs and his police dog Angus, along with Highway Patrol Sgt. Rick Sanders and Ado, searched the residence, outbuildings and numerous junk cars for any other contraband, Sliger said.

The officers didn't find anything else on the property, he said.

"The DEA is on the scene," Sliger said. "The DEA was actively involved in the search warrant, along with the SEMO Drug Task Force and our office," Sliger said.

Stackhouse and Wayne Arnold, 43, were booked at the Butler County jail pending the filing of formal charges.
