The Cape Girardeau Chapter of the Missouri Association of Social Welfare will hold a public forum on "crime and safety" on Friday.

It will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Missouriana-Indian Room of the University Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University.

The forum is free and open to the public. Speakers will include Police Chief Howard "Butch" Boyd, Assistant U.S. Attorney Larry Ferrell, and Southeast's Director of Public Safety Doug Richards.

They will present proposals for new police procedures and policies; drug-free gun free school zones; and prevention of crime on campus.

There will be an opportunity for questions from the audience.
