The Cape Girardeau Fire Department responded to a 3 a.m. fire at Grecian Steak House Monday morning. According to a news release issued by the department, upon arrival moderate to heavy smoke was venting from the roof of the building. No flames were showing, but the windows of the restaurant were black and beginning to break. Crews broke out the front glass doors to make entry and advance hose lines. The Cape Girardeau Fire Department responded to a 3 a.m. fire at Grecian Steak House Monday morning.

According to a news release issued by the department, upon arrival moderate to heavy smoke was venting from the roof of the building. No flames were showing, but the windows of the restaurant were black and beginning to break. Crews broke the front glass doors to make entry and advance hose lines. A fire was extinguished in the buffet area.

The fire department said there was heavy smoke and fire damage throughout the establishment, but no other businesses were affected.

The fire was determined to be accidental and the state fire marshal has been notified.

No injuries were reported and no estimated dollar loss was provided.

The Jackson and Scott City fire departments also responded to the blaze.
