DELTA -- Creative Wood Products and Custom Cabinets recently opened at Highway 25 and Earl Street in Delta.
Jeff Diggs and his brother, Mike, opened the store after gaining extensive experience in the woodcarving business.
"I worked in a cabinet shop for many years and before that, I worked for my father's business," Jeff Diggs said. "We made cabinets and remodeled trailers. You name it and we've done it."
Diggs said they'll take orders for just about anything and, he pledged, "We'll fill every order we get. Right now it's just me and Mike but if business picks up we'll hire help," he said.
The orders take two to three weeks to fill.
"They call and we make an appointment to measure their kitchen and find out what styles they want. Then we make an estimate and write up a proposal. If they agree, then we do the work," Diggs said.
The process may take longer than dropping by a furniture store and picking up some cabinets but Diggs said the final product is worth it.
"There's a big quality difference between custom-made cabinets and those you find at a lumber store," he said. Oftentimes, these cheaper versions have filler material that weakens the product.
"Our cabinets are all wood and they're glued and put together to last. The wood is stained and we use a waterproof sealer. Then we apply two to three coats of finish to further protect the wood."
