WESTON, Mo. (AP) -- A crane collapse has caused several injuries at the Kansas City Power & Light's Iatan power plant near Weston in Platte County.

Several ambulances were sent to the scene after the 7:30 a.m. collapse. Television reports showed the crane tipped over on its side and crumpled alongside the plant.

The plant is just off Missouri 45 highway near Snow Creek, about 30 miles northwest of Kansas City near the Missouri River.

The company was in the process of building a coal-fired plant at the site.
