Melvin J. Van de Ven and William R. Schott have established the Schott & Van de Ven Certified Public Accountants Restricted Scholarship through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.
Under this scholarship, two $500 awards will be made annually -- one for the spring and one for the fall semester -- to children of deceased employees of Schott and Van de Ven Certified Public Accountants or children of current employees of the firm who have completed 30 semester hours with a minimum 2.75 grade point average.
Students pursuing an accounting degree who have completed 60 semester hours with a grade point average of at least 2.75 also are eligible for the scholarship.
The first award will be made in the fall. First-year scholarship donations will be in memory of the late Vernon Barringer, who worked as a CPA at the firm.
Applications will be reviewed by university's financial aid office. Final approval will be given by the partners of the firm.
