JACKSON, Mo. -- An angry ex-wife who allegedly pulled a gun on her former husband and a woman before firing a shot at the woman's car appeared in court Thursday.

Nancy H. Myer, 42, of Jackson, Mo., was bound over for arraignment after a preliminary hearing on charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action, second-degree domestic assault, and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by Associate Circuit Judge Gary Kamp.

When she came to the apartment of her former husband at 305 Kate St. in Jackson, Mo., on Sept. 7, Myer was furious, said Michael Myer, the former husband.

A female co-worker had driven to visit Michael Myer on her way to work from Marble Hill, Mo., and the two were standing outside when Nancy Myer drove up to them, she told the court.

The woman saw that Nancy Myer was waving a piece of paper in the air as she got out of her truck. She yelled, cursing at the woman and ordering Michael Myer to sign the piece of paper, an insurance check.

Michael Myer refused, and he said Nancy Myer became hysterical.

As she continued to scream, he said he didn't have a pen. Nancy Myer reached into her purse and pulled out a .38 caliber revolver.

Michael Myer immediately grabbed for the gun and tried to wrestle it away, he said.

As the two struggled, the woman got into her car to drive off. As she locked her door she said she saw Nancy Myer raise the gun and strike Michael Myer.

"She yelled, 'I'm going to shoot,' " the woman said.

As she started to make a left turn onto Ohio Street, the woman heard a shot. She looked and saw Nancy Myer waving the gun in the air and Michael Myer with his hands in the air.

The woman drove her car to the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department to report the incident. When she arrived, she noticed a hole in the driver's side door.

Further examination by police showed that it was likely made by a gunshot, Sgt. Howard Hammers said. The bullet penetrated the door's sheet metal exterior and glanced off a narrow steel beam inside the door, Hammers told the court.
