Cape Girardeau man faces charge of assault
Kyle W. Hente, 20, of 1805 Grandview, Cape Girardeau, was charged with assault and unlawful use of a weapon on Saturday by the office of the Cape Girardeau County prosecuting attorney. He faces up to 15 years for one felony count of assault and up to eight years for two felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held on a $10,000 cash/surety bond. According to the probable cause statement, a fight broke out between Hente and another individual during a party at Hente's house. Martavius Davis, 18, of Cape Girardeau jumped in to break up the fight, said patrolman Jason Seltzer. Hente allegedly pulled a gun out of his clothes and aimed it at Davis. Another person hit Davis in the head with a glass mug, and Hente chased him outside of the house while brandishing a knife sharpener. About four individuals who were in a truck attacked Davis in the street, Seltzer said, and Hente allegedly kicked him while he was lying helplessly on the ground. Davis was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center and was released.
Edward Byard Pierce, 50, of 502 N. Hope St. Apt. 1, Cape Girardeau, was charged on Monday with eight counts of forgery by the office of the Cape Girardeau County prosecuting attorney. He faces up to seven years in prison for each felony count. According to the probable cause statement, Pierce worked as a buyer at Heartland Auto Plaza. Between July 18 and Sept. 26, he allegedly sold eight cars cars to JP's Auto Sales, signing each title and handing them over to JP's Auto Sales. Owner Brian W. Godair had not authorized Pierce to sell the cars and didn't receive compensation for the nearly $10,000 that Pierce received from the sales, said Cape Girardeau patrolman Jason Seltzer. He is being held on $15,000 cash/surety bond.
