Court asked to pick new judge

The Missouri Supreme Court has been asked to assign a new judge for an Arkansas man charged with stealing a car and then intentionally hitting a group of joggers in Cape Girardeau.

Vincent Anderson, a 19-year-old from Little Rock, pleaded not guilty last month to felony charges of assault and vehicle tampering, which could send him to prison for up to 22 years. His co-defendant Marcus E. Jones of Cotton Plant, Ark., was sentenced in December to 90 days in the county jail for his role in the incident after pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges.

But Anderson, charged as the driver, has seen his case stall as he's gone through both circuit judges. First, Judge William Syler recused himself without explanation and then in January, Anderson's new attorney, Scott Reynolds, file a motion for change of judge after he came on board.

The motion was granted on Jan. 28 and nothing will happen until the selection is announced.
