JACKSON -- The College of Education at Southeast Missouri State University is offering a one-hour course at Orchard Drive Elementary School on teaching math and science in elementary schools for students with exceptional characteristics.
The class will be taught on Feb. 1 from 8 a.m.-noon and on Feb. 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
The course is offered to provide information for teachers and others interested in the education of students with exceptional characteristics.
Instructors will be Debbie Lusk and Jane Boren, teachers in the Orchard Drive Elementary School.
The course will be offered for graduate and undergraduate credit, depending on the needs of the students, and will be free.
The tuition is paid by an Eisenhower grant to the university that funds training in science and mathematics to improve the functioning of students in these areas.
Because tuition is free, enrollment is limited. People working for Orchard Drive Elementary School will be selected first as students.
The remaining places will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
For enrollment information, contact Lusk at 243-3662 or Boren at 243-4788.
