County seeks grants to improve two roads near Millersville

Cape Girardeau County is seeking grants to help improve and pave two county roads near Millersville.

County commissioners on Monday approved awarding administration services for grant applications to the Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission in Perryville, Missouri, and engineering design and inspection services to Koehler Engineering.

A sand mining operation is underway in the area. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources in February issued a permit to construct a new sand plant to Capital Sand Proppants, LLC, on County Road 347, according to DNR documents. Capital Sand is headquartered in Jefferson City, Missouri, and it produces Northern White frac sand with on-site mining and processing, according to its website.
