In the twinkling of an eye, the Cape Girardeau County Park North turned into a winter wonderland Wednesday evening.
The Holiday of Lights displays were lighted at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the park. The ceremony included music by the New Creations choir.
More than 35,000 people visited the 122 holiday displays last year. Area businesses, churches, organizations, clubs and individuals build the holiday lighting displays.
The lights will be turned on at dusk each night and will stay on until 11 p.m. daily. The display will remain until Jan. 2.
There is no charge for the visitors who drive or walk through the park tour.
The Holiday of Lights display is sponsored by the Cape Girardeau County Parks, the Cape Girardeau County Commission and the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri.
The park and commission provide electricity and security for the displays.
