County commissioners OK roof replacement bid for Jackson courthouse

A bid of $120,172 for the roof replacement of the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse from Drury Co. of Cape Girardeau was approved by Cape Girardeau County commissioners Monday.

The bid proposal includes the proposed roofing manufacturer as Firestone Building Products.

If decking replacement is required, the cost is $5 per square foot for wood decking and $75 per square foot for concrete decking.

Funding for the roof replacement will include $50,000 from the courthouse budget for repairs.

It was suggested that the remainder of the funding come from the capital improvements fund.

"We have to replace that roof because we can't continue to work under the leaks we have," 1st District Commissioner Paul Koeper said.
