Cape Girardeau County commissioners on Thursday approved purchasing new trucks for several county departments.

Associate Commissioner Paul Koeper gave the commission an overview of the condition of five trucks owned by the county with high mileage and in need of repair. Commissioners approved buying three 2013 regular cab pickups for the highway department and one for the parks department at a cost of $22,447 each. A new truck with an equipped bed for the building and grounds department also was approved for $29,948.

The county will purchase the trucks through the Missouri Department of Transportation and the funds will come from each department's budget, which were approved by commissioners earlier this year.
