Country music star Tanya Tucker signed autographs at an impromptu signing session at Broussard's Cajun Cuisine Sunday night.

Tucker is famous for such hits as "Strong Enough to Bend," "If it don't come easy," "Hangin' in," "It's a little too late," "Little Things," "Walkin' shoes," "Down to my last teardrop," and "Some kind of Trouble."

The singer was in Cape Girardeau Sunday to do some Christmas shopping after spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Bertrand, visiting with her future in-laws, Rita and Jerry Laseter.

"I'm just here for Thanksgiving," Tucker said. "We rode our Harleys up here from Nashville.

Tucker said she had never been to Bertrand before this trip, but does remember performing at the Show Me Center and said she's played the Sikeston Rodeo many times.

"We've just really been enjoying some quiet time in Bertrand. We've really enjoyed being here too, with a lot of good folks."

Tucker and the Laseters watched the Christmas parade before having dinner at Broussard's, where Tucker was recognized by fans.

Laseter has written several chart-topping songs himself, including "Down on the Farm" sung by Tim McGraw. He has also written songs for Tracy Lawrence and John Michael Montgomery.
