A country-pop showcase featuring seven bands will be held Sunday at Capaha Park, sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, Mitch Herod, K103 and KZIM.

The free concert will take place at the band shell, with a different band scheduled to play every 45 minutes. The event starts at 2 p.m.

Participating will be Nite Shift, Country 105, Almost Country, Heartland Songwriters Association. Decade, the Southland Band and TUFA.

Nite Shift will kick off the concert with their mix of music from the 1950s through the 1970s and some of today's popular country hits. Band members are Joe Lowes, Dave Barberis, Mike Qualls, Harvey Washer and Rusty Adams.

Country 105 formed in 1989 and performs popular country hits from male and female artists. Band members are Tammy Tidwell, Arnie Stone, Jennifer Deaton, Bobby Couch, Jim Pate and Joey Pierce.

Almost Country is a combination of two band that came together last year. Originally known as Strayte Creek, they changed their name to reflect the different styles of music they play. Members are Chris Belle, Dan Shandy, Buzz Murphy and Mitch Herod.

The Heartland Songwriters Association brings together the talents of writers and performers to present original music. Members include Pat Lunsford, Ruth Sauerbrunn, Karen Clevidence and James Peters.

The members of Decade have been playing music together since 1985, and perform pop, country and polkas. Members are Chuck Lutes, Bill Legrand, Bonnie Legrand, Ron Halter and Alex Harris.

The Southland Band performs mainly in the bootheel and performs original material. Members are Roy Chasteen, John Jenkins and Tom Green.

TUFA has been around since the 1970s, performing all types of music, but mainly pop. Members include Eddie Keys, Chuck Hanna, Wesley Gray and Alan Palermo.

Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
