Man steals chip truck, opens bags, leaves truck
One criminal proved his appetite for theft was greater than most. A Frito-Lay delivery truck stolen from behind a Cape Girardeau grocery store Wednesday was found nearly three hours later with several bags of chips inside opened up. The truck driver parked his vehicle behind Food Giant, 1120 N. Kingshighway, at 5:55 a.m. and went inside the store, police spokesman Jason Selzer said. When he left the store at 7 a.m., the truck was gone. He told police the keys were left in the ignition and the vehicle had been unlocked. A Food Giant surveillance camera showed a "heavy-set" man enter the vehicle and drive off, Selzer said. When the truck was found near Southeast Missouri State University's Kent Library at 9:09 a.m., at least 22 bags in the vehicle had been opened up and rifled through, Selzer said. He did not know if any bags were stolen. No arrests had been made as of 5 p.m.
