Corrections agent charged with manslaughter in Feb. 14 shooting; interview with police available for viewing

Steven Julian, a fugitive apprehension agent for the state, now faces charges of involuntary manslaughter for allegedly shooting Zachary C. Snyder, 23, while attempting to arrest him.

The charges allege Julian fatally shot Snyder on Feb. 14 outside a Themis Street apartment complex while trying to arrest him on a warrant for parole violation.

Late Tuesday a coroner's jury ruled Julian's actions in shooting Snyder were not justified as self-defense, nor did they constitute a lawful use of force.

Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle filed charges against the investigator today for involuntary manslaughter, a felony carrying a penalty of one to four years in prison, or up to one year in a county jail, and possible fines of up to $5,000.
