NEW MADRID, Mo. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced it will open a Birds Point-New Madrid Floodway information center at 705-B U.S. 61 in New Madrid, Mo. on Wednesday. The office will be open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The purpose of the center, the corps said, will be to provide residents with information related to claims for damage, assist them in completing applications and to accept claims forms for processing. The center's personnel will also be available to provide updates on the status of the corps' flood-risk reduction system damage assessment and other related information.
