A grain marketer, Hitt said this was the fourth time he had entered the contest.

"I usually enter not to win, but to compare how my corn is doing," he said.

Hitt is pleased with his 1990 crop.

Hitt's corn crop finished third in the nation in a McCurdy-sponsored contest.
