COOL BEANS COFFEE SHOP TO OPEN IN WEST PARK MALL

Something new is brewing in Cape Girardeau.

Cool Beans, The Coffee Cafe will open at West Park Mall this week.

The new coffee shop, situated down the JCPenney concourse in the mall, will specialize in espresso, cappuccino and lattes and will offer a wide selection of gourmet coffee, decaffeinated varieties, bulk coffee, herbal teas and snacks.

Bill C. Zellmer is owner and manager of the new company.

"I've wanted for some time to get into the restaurant business, and this is for me a very feasible approach to doing that and being my own boss," Zellmer said.

A former bartender in Cape Girardeau, Zellmer will now devote his attentions full time to "Cool Beans." He said he got the idea for the shop from restaurant trade magazines.

"The more I researched it, the more I thought a little sit-down coffee chop would be popular in Cape Girardeau," he said.

The shop also will offer light snacks with bagels, muffins, and a new product "My Daddy's Babycakes."

"It's the newest product of My Daddy's Cheesecake, which, rather than a slice of cheese cake, it's like a cup cake. It's the same thing, but about half the serving," Zellmer said.

The coffee shop's hours will be from 8 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 10:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday. "Espresso hour," in which special prices will be offered for the drink, will be from 8-10:30 a.m., Monday through Saturday.
