Two area convenience stores face possible fines and suspension of their liquor licenses after an investigation found that workers at those establishments allegedly sold alcohol to a minor.

Karen S. Yount of Highway 51 Express in Marble Hill, Mo., and Barbara K. Chidester of the Corner Store in Burfordville face charges of sale of liquor to a minor, according to a news release from the Missouri Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control. Both stores were among 10 alcohol compliance check investigations Nov. 14 by the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control.

The other eight stores in the checks didn't sell liquor to the undercover minor who was working with the investigation.

State supervisor Gene Lacy said the investigations were supported by a grant administered by the Highway Safety Division and Missouri Department of Transportation and funding made available through a Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act Grant Program.
