SIKESTON -- Contestants are being sought for the 1991 Cotton Carnival Queen Contest, scheduled for Sept 28, in conjunction with Sikeston's American Legion Cotton Carnival.
The contest is open to all unmarried teenagers attending high school in Southeast Missouri. Those attending Sikeston Public Schools are ineligible, according to contest rules.
All queen contestants will ride on floats or in convertibles during the Cotton Carnival Parade, which will be held prior to the crowning.
Applications for the event may be obtained by writing to Lola Rowe, Chamber of Commerce, 1 Industrial Drive, Sikeston, Mo., 63801, or be calling 471-2498 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
A recent photograph must be submitted with applications.
Entry fee is $15, and the deadline is Sept. 13.
