"Growing Your Business Using Microsoft Works" will be the topic of a seminar July 23-24. The seminar, scheduled for 6-9 p.m. in Academic Hall Room 348, is designed to help small business owners manage their operations more effectively and increase productivity using a personal computer and Microsoft Works software...

"Growing Your Business Using Microsoft Works" will be the topic of a seminar July 23-24. It is sponsored by the Small Business Development Center at Southeast Missouri State University and Microsoft Corp.

The seminar, scheduled for 6-9 p.m. in Academic Hall Room 348, is designed to help small business owners manage their operations more effectively and increase productivity using a personal computer and Microsoft Works software.

Microsoft Works is an integrated software product, spreadsheet, database and communications package. These tools allow users to copy information from financial reports to business plans or to customize mailings to include customer's names.

The program will cover issues such as handling accounts receivable, turnover, expansion, payroll, customer records, direct mailings and financial statements using Microsoft Works.

The topics will be covered in one of the seminar's four sections: "Managing Your Cash Flow," "Analyzing Investment Alternatives," "Financial Statement" and "Form Letters."

Participants will receive hands-on instruction, a Microsoft workbook and sample files to create forms after returning to the office.

The seminar, designed for all levels of computer skills, costs $50. Checks may be made payable to Southeast Missouri State University.
