ST. LOUIS -- The Compton Heights Concert Band will return to Cape Girardeau's Capaha Park on Labor Day to play its third consecutive free holiday concert.
The 7 p.m. concert at the band shell on Monday, Sept. 4, will feature the 50-piece band along with the powerful baritone voice of Robert Ellison and the nimble fingers of Jan Gippo, piccoloist for the St. Louis Symphony.
The program, which includes a number of marches along with '40s and '50s nostalgia with "In the Miller Mood" and two tunes by Richard Rodgers -- "Victory at Sea" and "The Carousel Waltz" from the Broadway musical.
Ellison will sing "America the Beautiful" and the recent pop hit "Wind Beneath My Wings."
The concert will conclude with a fireworks display.
