JACKSON -- Paul Sander and Butch Schneider of Jackson have purchased Cordwick Enterprises, 131 S. High Street, from Bud and Betty Cord. The new owners are changing the operation and the name of the company, which is now known as Semo Specialties and Sports Inc.
"We will offer all the same services that were offered before and we will gradually expand into other areas, including a greater selection of sporting goods on a seasonal basis," Sander said. They also are expanding the advertising specialties services.
In addition to these areas, the new business offers computer-generated engraving, custom-made trophies and plaques, uniforms, tee shirts and jerseys with custom printing for area ball teams, various silk screened clothing and non-printed clothing.
"If it can be printed on for business, team personal or any other use, we can do it," Sander added. "We want to be competitive, fair and friendly with the public." He said they are stressing customer service as a high priority in the business.
It is remaining at the same location, at the intersection of South High and Adams streets, and is open Monday through Saturday.
Former Cordwick employees Bobby McIntyre, Jane Kracke and Karen Oliver are continuing with the business, as will former owner Betty Cord. She and former Millers Mutual Insurance claims adjuster Larry DeClue are working in sales.
Sander, who serves as general manager, was formerly employment coordinator at St. Francis Medical Center and purchasing manager at Lenco. The Jackson native is a member of the Jackson City Council and vice president of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce.
Schneider has operated his own advertising specialties and printed wearables company, Diversified Services, several years and is incorporating it into the new venture. He serves as sales manager.
