The Jackson Board of Alderman, after a discussion which explored all options available, hired public works director Jim Roach, to be Jackson's new city administrator. His hiring will be effective July 13, which is city administrator Steve Wilson's last day.
After exploring our options we found that Roach has the experience and the knowledge of all city operations and projects.
This transition will be very smooth because of Roach's knowledge and technical expertise on all city affairs.
The mayor and the Board of Alderman feel Roach has earned this position by his outstanding performance the last 3 1/2 years as the city's public works director. Roach is well versed and totally involved in all aspects of the city's operation.
This includes his being a main player in the annual budget process.
The mayor and the board feel Roach will be the team player who can continue the many successes Jackson has enjoyed the past several years.
The decision was made not to advertise the position because Roach fills every need and skill our city administrator needs. If you have the type of person Roach is, already on your staff, with the experience needed, there is no reason not to promote him.
We look forward to working with Roach in continuing Jackson's progressive, proactive approach in the fastest-growing city in Southeast Missouri.
