Name: Kandee Metje
Lives in: Cape Girardeau
Family: Daughter, Katelyn, 18; son, Kris, 16.
Job: Full-time college student. I will get my degree in
middle school education next May. I'm also the public relations director for the Cape Girardeau Public School Foundation.
What do you like most about the area? I've lived here all my life and I love that wherever I seem to go, I know someone. It's a nice feeling.
Favorite food: Hot fudge sundaes and my oatmeal cookies. And the best -- church suppers in Kelso and Chaffee.
Favorite TV show: "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" -- I just laugh until I sometimes cry at the things they say.
Best advice: Exercise makes you feel great and gives you lots of energy. I walk 6.5 miles every day. It's like therapy and the gym for the price of good walking shoes every six months.
Person you most admire: My dad, Ben Reiminger. He lived life to
the fullest, never met a stranger and stayed fit and sharp through hard work and exercise until he was 90 years old. He was amazing and I really miss him.
What would you do if you won the lottery? I would travel. I haven't had a vacation in four years and I deserve one. I wouldn't quit my job, because I've waited all these years to get my teaching degree -- I would have THE most awesome classroom.
Pet Peeve: Lazy people and complainers -- UGH!
