Soldiers in Iraq receive Girl Scout cookies

Second-grade Brownie Troop 44 and first-grade Brownie Troop 316, both of Jackson, recently sent 379 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to the soldiers in Iraq. Troop 44 leaders are Denise Bell, Cheryl Hanners and Grace Pyle, assistant leader; leaders for Troop 16 are Grace Pyle, Kara Arnzen and Kim Essner. In return the Brownies and their leaders received pictures and a big thank you from Robert Balamut, project engineer in the US Army Corps of Engineers at the Ramadi Resident Office at Camp Blue Diamond. The troops appreciated the help from Maj. Steve Skelton at Benchmark Printing and Postal Planet in Jackson for helping with the shipping costs and the contacts in Iraq.

Cape County FCE trip deadline is Aug. 8

The Cape County FCE is sponsoring a trip on Sept. 8 to Kentucky to see the Carl Hurley Show in Draffenville and dinner at Patti's River Restaurant in Grand Rivers.
