Enrollment open for Super Sitter classes
Enrollment is open for the summer Super Sitter classes sponsored by Southeast Missouri Hospital. Classes are held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the following dates: June 18, June 24, July 8, July 17, July 22, July 30 and Aug. 6.
The course, designed by Southeast nurses experienced in infant/child emergency care, is for boys and girls ages 11 to 16 who want to learn proper babysitting techniques and understand the emotional and developmental needs of infants, toddlers and children as well as basic child care. It also includes first-aid techniques and child CPR. The course fee covers the cost of handouts, lunch, snacks, a Super Sitter kit, badge and certificate.

Rep. Emerson's mobile office hits the road
U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Mo., says her mobile office will hit the road again this month so that her constituents can be in better contact with their federal representative. Mobile office director Darren Lingle will be available to answer the public's questions and write down constituent concerns.
Monday, the mobile office will be at the courthouse in Benton from 8:30-9:30 a.m., the Sikeston Heritage House from 10-11 a.m. and the Charleston Library from noon to 1 p.m.
Thursday, June 12, the mobile office will be at Advance City Hall from 12:30-1:30 p.m., Oran City Hall from 2-3 p.m. and Chaffee City Hall from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Parents Without Partners to hold orientation
Parents Without Partners will hold an orientation/general meeting from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Riverside Regional Library. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Lewis & Clark meeting set for Monday
The Cape Girardeau Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Convention and Visitors Bureau, 100 Broadway, Cape Girardeau. The public is invited to learn about plans for the Nov. 21-23 re-enactment and the Red House Interpretive Center.
Gold Wing motorcycle riders change meeting
The Gold Wing Road Rider's Association has changed its meeting location to Delmonico's Restaurant in Jackson.
Any Gold Wing rider may come for dinner at 6 p.m. tonight, and the chapter meeting begins at 7 p.m. Membership is not limited to Gold Wing motorcycles -- any brand of bike makes a rider eligible to be an associate member.

Jacobs to be guest on 'Independently Speaking'
The next guest on "Independently Speaking" will be Donna Jacobs, founder of Service Dogs Today. She will speak on Service Dogs Today and services the foundation offers.
The program, sponsored by the SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence, will air on WDKA-TV 49 (Channel 17 on cable), at 5:30 a.m. Sunday and on cable access Channel 5 at 7:30 p.m. June 10 and June 24.
Women in the Outdoors to hold event Saturday
Learning new skills, meeting people with similar interests and kicking back in the great outdoors is what the National Wildlife Turkey Federation's Women in the Outdoors program is all about. The next event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Deerfield Lodge in Jackson. The cost will include lunch, training programs of choice, supplies, use of equipment, a one-year subscription to WITO magazine, silent auction and promotional items. JAKES event to be held Saturday in Jackson
Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship, the National Wildlife Turkey Federation program for members 17 and under is dedicated to teaching the principles of wildlife management and passing along the traditions of safe, ethical and responsible hunting.
A JAKES event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Deerfield Lodge in Jackson. Attendance will be limited and pre-registration is encouraged by today. Cape Class of 1983 to hold reunion June 20
An informal gathering of the Central High School Class of 1983 will be held at Jeremiah's from 7 p.m. to midnight on June 20. A cash bar and disc jockey are included.
A picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 21 at Capaha Park's "Tot Lot" will include sandwiches, chips and drinks. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and family. From 7 p.m. to midnight on June 21 at the Holiday Inn a social gathering will be provided, including a sound system, memory book, light hors d'oeuvres and some drinks. Cash bar available. Union County to hold annual flea market
The Union County Historical Society will sponsort its annual flea market at the Anna Fairgrounds in Anna, Ill., from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. This is a rescheduled date due to poor conditions at the fairgrounds. There will be over 65 spaces of antiques, collectibles and crafts at the event, which will be held rain or shine.
The society has sponsored the event for over 25 years and proceeds are used to promote historical society projects. Information on the building rehabilitation for the Cobden Museum will be on display at the flea market.
